What a Concern Can Look Like.
Safeguarding concerns include, and are not limited to, the following.
- Physical Abuse
- Emotional or Psychological Abuse
- Financial or Material Abuse
- Sexual Abuse
- Neglect

- Domestic Abuse
- Modern Slavery
- Discriminatory Abuse
- Organisational or Institutional Abuse
If you're unsure whether something counts as one of these, raise it anyway. Deciding what it is, is our job and the local authority's, not yours.
Our Commitment.
Better at Home is committed to the safety and welfare of all the people we support. We have a safeguarding policy, and safeguarding training is part of every carer's induction, before they visit anybody.
We follow the framework set out in the Care Act 2014. If we have reason to believe that a person we support is at risk of harm, neglect or abuse, we will act, including making a referral to the adult social care team at the local authority. For Darlington, that is Darlington Borough Council.
